Not a happy camper - Vanguard MAK 263 Aluminum Tripod - 65in w/ Pan Head

I am not a professional and actually this was my very first purchase of a tripod. It's intended use was for a spotting scope to shoot target archery tournaments with. Boy was I disappointed. The head on this unit is so cheap I could not get it to hold on my target object. While trying to adjust the vertical adjustment I had to hold the spotting scope 15 to 20 feet above the object I was trying to view and then lock adjustment knob, then the spotting scope would move down as I released the scope and settle in on my target. Took me 15 minutes to get it set up to where I could see what I was trying to look at. I am returning this product tomorrow. Very disappointed?
Pros: Ease of set-up, price.
Cons: pan head adjustment will not hold, cheap head....
