Bipes's Review of Vector Optics Taurus 3-18x50mm Rifle Scope
I purchased this scope for a new Benjamin Kratos .22cal.. While I researched scopes I had a sixty dollar Centerpoint mounted and I was really disappointed with the results at 45 yards in what I believed to be great gun. Staying in the six inch target was about the best I could get.
I settled on the Taurus for the it's combination of specs (Eye Relief a large factor), features, reviews, and price. It's always about the money. After initial inspection I was really pleased with my choice. There is no slop in eye piece turrets or parallax. Glass looks impressive especially considering the price. One problem I had was mounting it. Eye relief on this scope is so long, what a problem to have. Standard mounts had me resting my check on the back edge of the comb for a full picture. Supplied rings are plenty good to use, unlike some rings supplied with other scopes, they just didn't work with the limited rail space on the Kratos. A set of Hawke extension ring mounts, 2 inch size solved my problem. The loops set nearly center on both tubes and the eye relief is perfect.
All I can say is I can't believe how well this scope works on my Kratos, so well in fact another will replace the scope currently on my Marauder. Forty-five yards is really almost too easy now, kinda fun to shoot a gun this accurate, I think some trick shots like Shooter 1721 are in order. One inch high metal silhouettes first shot, can put a full magazine, 12 pellets, in the one inch bull. Amazing combination, can't wait to try 75 and 100 yards.
If you are looking for an fairly economical scope in this mag. range I think this one is worth trying.
