Sanwizard's Review of Vector Optics Taurus 5-30x56mm FFP Rifle Scope

The eye relief on this scope is simply amazing. The clarity and sharpness of the images at all magnifications compare favorably to Scmidt and Bender, Vortex, and Leupold. Its much brighter than my Athlon 6-24x50. My wife picked it as the winner of a blind clarity and brightness test between Nikon, Arhlon, and Sightmark. Parallax at 15 yards is a bit off, but its not rated for that close. The zoom is easy and smooth as butter. I can zoom in amd out with two fingers. My Nikon amd Athlon need two hands to zoom. With this one, I can keep my eye on the target and zoom in and out. The eye relief is probably better than 4 inches. Its that good. Eyebox is very forgiving up to around 24x, then it tightens up to around 30, but image is very bright. I compared the Nikon F1000 24x and Athlon 24x to this 30x at night with illumination, and the Vector optics blew the others away with the amount of light and image quality at night. I was debating between the Athlon Ares, Sightmark Pinnacle, and Primary Arms Platinum for my 6.5 creedmoor, but I think I am going to grab the Vector Optics Continental instead. Their website says they use German optics from Schott, and I now believe it. The Continental is supposed to be clearer than this Taurus, and if so, it will be a steal. Not sure about reliability yet, but it has a no questions asked lifetime warranty just like Vortex.
Pros:
  • Clarity of glass, brightness of image, eye relief, eye box, smooth zoom, nice locking turrets
Cons:
  • Brightness of reticle at lowest zoom. Probably resale value as they are bot well k own
Best Used for:
  • PRS, Hunting, Targets
