Well made and well thought out.
I don't know how they did it. The material seems tough, but somehow isn't unbearable on triple digit heat+humidity days.
Pockets are well thought out. Good for conceal and carry without screaming tactical. Comfortable, practical, possibly stylish? I'm not 100% sure if I'm qualified for any style comments being dad-core. I will likely use these with or without conceal and carry.
I can't comment on long term durability. I'd imagine/hope they'll last a while and launder well. I purchased some generic, low cost shorts at a department store last year and they're already very ratty looking.
Good but not great
Bought these because I wear the phantom pants and I've grown accustomed to where input stuff in the pockets. Make no mistake these are not designed the same. I was expecting the phantom pants just made to shorts. This is different. My biggest gripe is i keep my knife in the small side pocket on the pants and the shorts this pocket is in a slightly different location so when wearing the shorts and i reach for my knife without looking I'm having to search for it. Aside from that the quality is great and no doubt these shorts will last.

Nice shorts
I bought a pair the same day Optics Planet revealed the promotion. “Buy this and get a free multi-cam hat, while supplies last”. I thought why not, buying some nice shorts and a free multi-cam hat. NOT! Got the shorts, but not the hat. Thanks OP for sticking to your word. However, these are comfortable shorts. I like the color and how the pockets are sewn into the fabric of the shorts, not cheaply made. The back and side pockets are not to deep, but also not to shallow. I like the fact there is no Velcro or buttons, that secure the pockets. I think this is more of a personal choice.
