Works great with meadow creek mount on browning b-80 - Viridian Weapon Technologies RFX-35 1x22mm Micro 3 MOA Green Dot Sight

I actually bought the RFX35 over two years ago from OP, but for various reasons never mounted it on a firearm until recently. I had originally planned to use it for Turkey on a Browning B-80 20ga with a Meadow Creek Rib Mount. However, I got an unexpected invite to go on a deer hunt in Illinois and decided to use the sweet handling B-80 as my slug gun. Though I only got one shot at a running deer, the RFX35 worked out great with slugs. It performed beautifully in all lighting conditions from morning’s first light to the super bright winter midday sun over cornfields. The shake to wake works flawlessly and the green dot is easily visible in even the brightest sunlight. One of the advantages of the RFX35 is that it mounts very low. I know that not all manufacturers list their dimensions, but if you compare it to other sights, it sits lower than just about any other. It seems like this is mainly due to the bottom load battery. Yes, the bottom load is not all that convenient since you need to remove the sight to change the battery. But I will take that as a tradeoff for how low it sits. For a pistol mount, I guess the height doesn’t make a whole lot of difference, but for a long gun, it allows it to be mounted closer to the bore and thus allows a better cheek weld to the stock. I also like convenience and simplicity of the controls, with plus on the left and minus on the right. Once you get used to this, it’s quick and easy to change the brightness. I plan to buy Viridian dots for a couple of my vintage lever guns and use them with the mounts that replace the rear iron-sight dovetail.
