I have a few of these, and absolutely love them. Typically the 36" model is the one for a 16" carbine with collapsible stock. But if you go with a fixed stock, or an 18"+ barrel, this 42" model is the one you want. I've measured and I think a 20" rifle with fixed stock could just barely fit, with a pretty tight zipper closure.
It still comes with a shoulder strap, just like always. The hardware is steel and seems sturdy. Zipper is large and sturdy. The pockets fit 4 standard mags, or 20-rounders. If using 10-rounders, you could fit 2 per pocket. Velcro straps on the inside sort of restrain the carbine from shifting too much. It is tall enough if you have a scope mounted. All around great basic option.
Expectation management: this is a bag, used to carry, i.e. to a range or to a hunting spot. It is not meant for storage or heavy duty protection. Still, this bag has thicker padding than some basic shotgun bags.
