Legacy Reviewer's Review of Vism Battle Belt w/ Pistol Belt
This item was extremely comfortable when set up and was easily adaptable to my purposes as an automatic rifleman at first; however, when I put it into use on mission, it failed miserably. This item is incapable of holding half of a combat load without serious reinforcement of both the webbing of the belt itself and the pals. In my case, I had to take it to an afghan tailor and have him repair the seam at the top of the belt that had completely ripped apart after only one mission carrying 300 rounds of linked ammunition. The mission was non-eventful and I shudder to think what would have happened had we taken contact.
Pros: It is a fairly decent knockoff of a CTOMS system belt at a tenth of the price and the padding is good.
Cons: The strength of the fabric is awful. This belt lasted a single mission carrying part of a combat load (300 rounds linked .556). The top tore off completely and it was hanging off by a few threads by the time I returned to my hooch. I had it repaired by a tailor on base, and after the top seam was repaired, the PALS webbing started to tear from the weight. I've had it repaired three times; I like the system, it is the best way for me to keep the weight off of my shoulders and keep me moving quickly; however the company that produces this should consider using Cordura an using a different, stronger and more durable seam stitching method.
