Great case for a rifle - VISM Discreet Carbine Case, 26in

My Sig556 broken down into upper and lower halves fits perfectly. I even have room for magazines and other accessories. The case doesn't look like your standard weapon case so the discreet part is pretty accurate. I haven't had this case but a couple of months so I don't know how well it will hold up long term but it seems to be pretty well made. If it will fit my Sig it will also fit a 16" AR as well. A YouTube review on this case is what got my attention to begin with. Do a search on YouTube and you will find several good reviews and it is pretty surprising just how much stuff people fit into these cases.
