Uffdaphil's Review of VISM Double Carbine Gun Case, 36-42in
I just received both the VISM and Opmod double carbine cases. Both will hold my scoped 18" with A1 stock, and 16" with Aimpoint RD and STR stock in center compartment and a 7.5" AR pistol in large side pocket.
The Opmod looks sleeker, but for utility and gun protection the cheaper VISM is superior. VISM has a padded center divider while the Opmod uses two padded straps ~3-4" wide which risk allow metal-to-metal contact. Opmod has large and extra large external zip compartments and no outside molle straps. Vism has three expanding buckled pouches which can hold up to 19 30rd plus 4 20rd mags tightly. The 2 corner zip pouches will hold a Glock 19 or smaller handgun. Both cases look well constructed, but I expect the buckles to hold up better with heavy mags than the zippers.
I attached a dump pouch and will add another pouch to the molle areas for range use. But I think this will do double duty as a dedicated AR bug-out bag to toss in the old Land Cruiser. Yes it weighs a ton jammed full of mags, but no biggie toting just between vehicle and range or house. I took off the shoulder straps as I can't see humping this load very far. This ain't your shank's mare tactical loadout.
