Most Helpful Positive Review Great Value
Needed a spotting scop for 100yds and less and this one fits the bill and doesn't break the bank. It is somewhent difficult to smoothly focus, but I suspect that will get better with use. Seems to be a tightness from being new as opposed to an issue with the way it was made. Pros: Price and magnification Cons: Ease of focus

Vivitar 18-36x50 Spotting Scope

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on February 22, 2012
Light weight scope for field or range use. Resolution is fairly good across field. Zoom is fully par-focal. Roll down Eye ring for use with glasses, touchier focus for distances at about 70 yards. I Needed a spotting scope for 100yds and less for a 22 and this one fits the job.
Pros: Price and magnification, Compact, light weight, good resolution
Cons: very touchy focus
Would recommend: Yes

Good scope with one significant limitation

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on December 12, 2011
A light weight scope for field or range use. Resolution is good across field. Zoom is fully parfocal. Eye relief is marginal for use with glasses, with some loss of field. Minimum focus distance is about 70 feet!! This makes in unusable on most indoor, and junior or BSA shooting ranges. It's also a problem for birdwatchers unless the feeder is at least 25 yards away.
Pros: Compact, light weight, good resolution
Cons: limited near focus
Would recommend: Yes
