Barry Bluespiderweb's Review of Vixen Foresta 8X32 CF Binoculars

I really love the big view here-the angle isn't super wide (though wide none the less-7.5 deg), but the large eyecups and ocular lenses make viewing a pleasure. If you have been used to smaller compacts (or even larger bins with small ocular lenses), and then try these, it will be a big surprise how nice it is to look through these, and you will probably be hooked too!

Besides that, they are sharp and bright-even brighter than some other good binoculars too, so when the sun is coming up or going down, these will deliver a good view when there is little light available.

The only downsides, are these: They are not lightweights, though they are compact. Also, the eye relief for some glasses wearers might be a little tight, but I have found them fine for me with glasses, but I prefer them without for an even larger feeling view. The Vixen Foresta 8x42's and 7x50's have better eye relief, since their ocular lenses are not as recessed from the edges of the eyecups.

And not a deal breaker for me, but some might find the focuser to be a little stiff to turn (typically because of the seals on many waterproof Porro binoculars)-it is a bit stiff on my 8x32, but my two other Vixen Forestas Porros are smooth as can be. So, sometimes it is just due to sample variation. If it is very important to you (for use in colder weather), you might find some are harder to turn than others. Of course, nothing prevents you from returning for replacement if so, or ordering more than one, just to have your bases covered-if you need them for a special event or such. In warmer weather, mine does get a bit easier once I am using them for a little while also.

Anyway, Vixen's Foresta Porro line of binoculars are a fine choice for many uses, and you should seriously consider one of them if you like modern Porro binoculars. There are not a lot of such affordable and quality waterproof Porro binoculars around today, and Vixen's lifetime transferrable warranty sure makes them even more attractive to boot.

I love mine, and am happy to have them. I hope you might find out how nice they are too. Enjoy!
