This is my 3rd set of binos. I have used Steiner 10x50, Generic 8x22 and now this pair of Vortex Crossfires.
This is first pair however I actually researched before my purchase. Compact size, durablity and quality were all important factors.
Optics is perfect. 8 magnification reveils nice sharp crisp images. Rear 42 mm is excellent for lowlight/night.
Price is good value. This is not pair I would be afraid to lose or break.
So far binos have stood up to moderate use. I had one eyecup come unscrewed. But was easy fix to repair.
My biggest gripes are front lens covers, they simply do not want to stay put and have tendency to pop off at slightest bump. I suppose this is minor gripe.
The other flaw (which is really personal preference) is for people with big hands it feels ackward to hold this for viewing. I feel scrunched.
Of course true mark of excellence is 'would you buy them again?' I honestly would say no. This pair of binos is good starter set/disposable not a pair to pass down to generation to generation.
Pros: Small, compact size, low price
Cons: Narrow grip (personal preference), Eyecups must be extended.
