Good, take along compacts - Vortex Hurricane 10 x 28mm Compact Binoculars

Great size, not too small for my hands and not too big. Fairly lightweight at 14 oz. Great depth of field! Excellent focusing, just 3/4's of a turn. Feel solid, durable; excellent armor protection, very comfortable! 10x affords noticable and very usable increase in power over 8x and surprisingly bright for little 10x28's! Excellent color rendition for compacts! Slight shake, but not too bad - in my hands (much less than full size 10x40's). No negatives, but image/optical quality is only good. I wanted 8x's but could not find the 8x Hurricane's, so I bought the 10x's. I already own a pair of the 8x28 Fury's. The Fury's have appreciably better image quality plus lighter-weight, but they are more $$$. Hurricane's came with an excellent Vortex strap, good soft case, good rainguards (typical) and good teathered objective lens covers. 10x Hurricane's may be a bit over priced???
Pros: Incredible deption field and fast focusing!
Cons: Only good image quality and a bit expensive.
