freenate's Review of Vortex SPARC II Red Dot 2 MOA SPC-402
Pros:
Small and light - good option for not adding much weight to a carbine.
Vortex stands behind their products.
Decent controls.
Has NV mode.
Auto off conserves battery
Cons:
Dot not very crisp, mine has blur around the edges.
Not as durable as it appears. Dropped the optic (not mounted to a gun) 4ft onto wood floor and objective housing was visibly bent. Can't imagine this would hold up in combat or serious use.
Brightness adjustment range is not great for indoors or low light settings. Lowest setting is still producing halos and blurs. NV mode is too dim to see (obviously). THIS IS MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT.
Adjustment clicks are very hard to feel.
Noticeable green hue when looking through optic, but this is common.
Overall, if you can get this substantially below MSRP it might be worth it, but the issues with brightness and a not-so-crisp dot make this a regrettable purchase for me.
