Fitz001's Review of Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP Rifle Scope

I sent it back insured (another $50) and they said and wrote it was set 12MRAD down, which there tech's immediately recognized to cause vignetting effect. They suggested I take it off my 20 MOA base and just use a flat base. I informed the tech I use the scope for long range shooting and hunting, which is what Vortex advertize. They said I wanted too much from the scope and that a 4x16 would give me more travel and better for my needs for hunting around 100 yards in my Florida environment and semi-long range shooting.

I am not sure if they made a mistake or if they are just full of it but the scope was not 12MRAD down it was 18.7MRAD down. I could not put one shim in it and it only took 3 guy with PST's to figure it out in a minute or two at the range. There was only 0.3 clicks after zeroing it.

So I came to the conclusion this is not the scope for me and I just need to save a few more dollars and get a quality scope from a company that has been around a little longer.

Well who ever wrote the review, which states Vortex will give your money back. Well you are wrong. When I asked they suggested I return it where I bought. I told them I purchased it from euroOptic; however, by the time they sent it (super fast), I mounted it, zeroed it at the range, shot with at the range again and then went hunting out of state and discovering the defect the 15 days for euroOptic had passed. I will leave out the long pause the nice guy at Vortex did appearing to feel sorry for me.

I do like how they write call their customer service and they will take care of it, NOT! Also, if I am writing a review about the defect does not one think I called at least once.

Well I will probably mount it on my daughter's Remington 597 and put my Nikon 4x12 back on my Savage until I can acquire a quality scope. I was going to put it on ARMSLIST but there are so many already.

I did put the scope on a flat base no real improvement. I did shoot with it yesterday at the range yesterday out to 1000 yards and it did it's job well. Noting it was very sunny in Florida.

But to mount a scope and zero it, take if of for a defect and send it back, get it back and mount it on a flat base with no real improvement, remount on 20 MOA base, Vortex please.
