Stock savage base - Vortex Viper Riflescope Rings

I purchased the rings for my new savage predator max 1, which has stick weaver style bases. When product came in u was pleased with the quality of the rings and the lightweight. However when I went to mount them they do not clamp on tight enough for the stock bases. They are listed as pictanny or weaver style but sadly they didn't fit my weaver base. I could easily buy a pictanny rail but then these mounts would be to high.
