Justin's Review of Walker Defense Research Nero Compensator

No, it’s not cheap. But in my opinion, I will not waste my money buying something that does not perform as well as another product just to save a few bucks. If you are looking for the absolute cutting edge in innovation and performance, look no further. My #1 problem with PCC’s are vertical muzzle rise, and since I am simply neither patient enough nor flat out willing to deal with the ATF as far as getting tax stamps for AOW or SBR to put a VFG or butt stock on my PCC to help account for muzzle rise, I bought this. I bought it originally from the Walker Defense Research website, but saw no review for it on here so decided to enlighten some folks. 90-98% of my vertical recoil is gone, GONE, and that’s not an exaggeration. I had a muzzle device, which will remain nameless, attached to a 10.5” 9mm AR pistol which claimed it would reduce barrel climb and felt recoil by 60%. I put about 70 rounds through it, then switched to an A2 birdcage flash hider. As this particular PCC does not have much “kick” anyhow, I didn’t notice much of a difference in felt recoil, and muzzle climb was no different, still rose about an inch or two above my target set at 15 yards with each shot, and this momentarily made me question myself whether buying a new compensator was even worth it, but when i tightened and squared away the NERO 9 on my AR pistol and shot about 20 rounds through it all my doubts had vanished. Barrel climb is almost gone, first 4 rounds hit well low on the target just because I was expecting more barrel climb and wrongly compensated for such. Moving around the range shooting my weapon now makes it feel like a true extension of my body like you always read about. I knew where each shot was going and exactly where my follow up shot was going to be placed, do not waste your money on a cheaper compensator. If you’re in the market for a new muzzle device, you’re obviously knowledgeable enough about firearms to appreciate quality and performance above frugality. So don’t waste any more time researching, consider this the last review you read about PCC muzzle compensators.
