Legacy Reviewer's Review of Weaver Classic V-Series 6-24x42mm Rifle Scope

PROS:The fit an finish are excellent. The magnification adjustments are solid. Paralax adjustments are accurate. The cross hairs ("varmint reclicle" which are fine duplex cross hairs with a 1/8MOA center dot) are great. They're fine enough to zero in on small targets at long ranges, but large enough so they are not lost in the background. The finger adjustable windage and elevation are great, they are also able to be reset to zero without tools.
CONS:This is not a Leupold scope, but at less than half the cost, your losing less than 10% of the clarity, and this is at higher magnifications (>20). The MOA adjustments only go to 6 per knob revolution, so if you are shooting at longer ranges you'll have to make note of this when making adjustments. (one revolution + 1 MOA mark = 7MOA). Head position is critical at higher magnifications, and the eye relief is a bit less than would be necessary for lighter, higher recoil rifles, particularly if you are using "flip-up" lens caps (that little red push button will rap you in the nose if you forget to take them off when shooting from a bench, off-hand shooting is not a problem).
OVERALL:This is a great scope for the money, I purchased this after having a V16 on a .308 for over 15yrs, with no issues what-so-ever, so it was an easy decision to make when looking for a scope for a varmint rifle. I feel you get more than you pay for with this scope.
Pros: Crosshairs, resettable adjustment knobs, value,x-hairs,range of magnification 6X-24X
Cons: MOA adjustments, clarity @ 24X, finicky eye placement at 24X, eye relief at larger magnifications
