Good value but side focus knob very difficult to turn - Weaver Super Slam 3-15 x 50 mm Side Focus Rifle scope

Last March 2015, I purchased a Weaver Super Slam model 800348. Right out of the box the side focus knob has always been very difficult to turn and is nearly impossible with gloves on. The colder the temperature the harder the side focus is to turn. I figured after a year of use it would loosen up but this has Not been the case so I have decided to post a review. Otherwise it is a very good value given all the features it comes with. I also own a Euro Super Slam 4-20 illum. German#4 and the side focus knob is very easy to adjust. Also, on the Euro version the illum. reticle and side focus turn separately so you can always tell what level the reticle is on. The regular Super Slam has the knobs turn together, so once you adjust the side focus to something different than 100yd. you can not exactly see what level the illum. reticle is on. Hope that explains it but you may just to have to see for yourself. Unless maybe mine is defective and both turning together is why the side focus is so hard to turn. I am contacting Weaver to see if loosening up the knob is covered under warranty.
