Beware savage 116 long action owners! - Weaver Top Mount Base Pairs

I have a Leupold VX-II scope that I was planning on mounting to my Savage 116 Long-action (30-06) with these Weaver bases and Weaver rings that I already owned. The bases fit perfectly on the gun. However, because they mount on either side of the action the stance was too wide to clamp down on the VX-II, or any other scope that I own. I had to get the long single piece Weaver mount to fit the scope properly.
Pros: Tight fit, clean finish, nice tight mount with Weaver rings
Cons: Average sized scopes won't likely fit on Savage 110 Series rifles with long actions.
