Chappy's Review of Wiley X RX Prescription Blink Sunglasses

So far I am very pleased with these goggles. I have already recommended them to several friends.

I stopped using contacts a long time ago because of my prescription. Back then contacts for me were very expensive. I was so used to glasses that I didn't really considered contacts until I started riding again some years ago. Eventually it got to the point that I couldn't ride without my glasses anymore. That left me with either a full-face helmet or goggles that could go over my glasses. I don't do full helmets very well and if you have ever tried to find googles to wear over prescription glasses you know the pain of finding good googles that don't feel like you are putting a windshield on your face. That lead to searching for prescription riding goggles.

After doing some research we felt that the Wiley-X offered the best in quality, variety, and price. I am glad we decided to go with these goggles.

The goggles fit fine. They are snug to the head and face without being tight. I have tried several times turning my head to the side as high speed to see if the wind pulled the goggles free. To this date this has never happened.

The goggles are also very light. I love that I can wear them for very long periods of time without feeling the need to remove them and massage the bridge of my nose to ease the pain from pressure there (this used to be an issue with over-the-glasses-goggles).

They are very durable. Both the lenses are frames are holding up well. Since they are an expensive investment I am taking efforts to keep them in good shape and so far I have no blemishes on the frames or lenses.

They are easy to clean. It took a bit to figure out how to remove the padded insert without breaking anything. Once I worked out how to remove it and replace it has not been an issue. I remove the padded insert and wash the goggles in mild soap and water on occasion to keep them clean. Works like a charm.

The only complaint I could say I have is the padded insert. The one that came with the goggles is a foam edged insert that contours to the face to keep out wind and particles. Sometimes when the goggles slide down a bit you still get wind and debris in. I also feel like the padding may be deteriorating. The liner may even be part of the particles I occasional get in my eyes. I feel covering the small pad in rubber or cloth would make it more comfortable and less likely to deteriorate. That's probably not an easy or cheap thing to do but this is only a suggestion.

I have had these goggles for about six months and the one downside I have experienced is not a deal breaker at all. I will continue to refer these googles to friends and family. I intend to some day buy another pair myself.
Pros:
  • Durability
  • Weight
  • Fit and finish.
Cons:
  • liner could use improvement
