FlatRock Ray's Review of Woodstock Canister Filter for Wall-Mount Dust Collector W1844

I have a PSI DC-3 Dust Collector (30 yrs old), with a 1 micron bag filter. The 1 micron bag works well, but is a messy pain in the you know what to empty. So I decided to look into a canister upgrade, with a removable plastic bag. I knew before hand that the D4645 would not fit the outlet opening. My outlet was 4 in. The D4645 is 4.75 in. The clamp provided is only made for an equivalent 4.75" inlet. In other words, the clamp does not move the metal flange very far. The solution in my case was a 1/4" rubber sleeve plus a 1/8" neoprene rubber gasket cut to fit and glued or double sided taped on. Then use 4 screws to attach the canister inlet flange to the DC-3 outlet. Fit quite snug. For good measure, I taped around the flange and sealed the inner surfaces with silicone caulk. Air tight. The bottom line was a significant increase in suction over the 1 micron bag filter. Just turning the dust collector on resulted in fine dust in the bag being pulled out of the surrounding shop air. I was impressed. A definite upgrade. If you can afford it, do it. Highly recommend.
