Steve's Review of XS Sight Systems F8 Night Sight
My “mature” eyes seem to get slower and slower each year at picking up the standard gun sights - all of the sights just seem to get smaller and smaller!
Although I have only had these sights installed on my Glock 43 for a short time, I believe the XS F8 Night Sights have increased my front sight focus and provided me quicker target acquisition, primarily due to the large and highly visible orange ring on the front sight. Additionally, it appears the wide notch on the rear sight increases the amount of light around my front sight which should provide greater visibility in low light conditions. Too, the front and rear sights are tritium powered which should help during low light conditions. The XS F8 Sight System uses a “Figure 8” sight picture, so it should prevent confusion over which dots are the front and which dots are the rear sights, which can happen with the more traditional three dot sight systems. Overall, I believe these XS Sights should help make me a better shooter in both day and low light conditions.
One point to consider prior to purchasing XS F8 Night Sights is the front sight is unusually “tall” when compared to the Glock OEM Sights. This should be taken into consideration if you plan to use any of your current holsters, or if you plan to purchase new holsters.
I prefer to end product reviews on a positive note (if possible). So, you may be glad to know the XS F8 rear sight has a “ledge” that is flat and would be useful for racking during slide one-handed operations.
