Extended takedown and pivot pins - XTS AR-15 Extended Pivot and Takedown Set

Seems to be well made. Nicely finished. No rough edges or mars in the surface. The description says, "hardened steel and plated". Not sure what the plating is? Looks like plain, blued steel to me? Fit smoothly on my lower build. Matches well with the mag catch assembly, as well as the anti-walk pins and bolt catch. Looks like everything will produce an excellent finished product. This is my daughter's rifle and she requested the extended pins. I am not sure that I would choose the extended pins for my rifles? They are handy and make for an easy take-down. However, the rear take down pin does interfere slightly with my usage of the ambi safety. Also, I prefer to have as few protrusions from my rifle as possible, because I have found them to catch on everything (branches, vines, clothing, web gear, etc). My daughter will be doing mostly benchrest and LR shooting, so this should not be an issue for her. This is obviously not the extended pin's fault, I'm just not sure of the design for my personal preference? They went together easily, snug fit. If you do not have an AR build set up, be sure to order the pins with the install tools! The ONLY reason that I cannot give this 5 stars, is that after 2-1/2 months I am still waiting for an upper. It was estimated to be shipped 6 weeks ago, and I cannot complete my build and test fire the finished product until I receive the upper.
