I bought this Yukon NVMT looking for a cost effective NV solution. I am a Professional working in the Middle East, and have used all varieties of NVG's and Thermals. Bottom line is this, if you want good night vision, you have to pay for it. This unit is decent, meaning YES you can use it, but the construction is cheap and would definitely be rendered useless with a short fall or drop. In average night time darkness you can see better with your naked eye after a few minutes of allowing your eyes to adjust. With the IR on you can see decently out to about 20 meters. One huge problem is glare. Any source of light at all will glare out most of any detail you could see when you're using it outdoors. In complete indoor darkness and using the IR you can see crystal clearly and get a sharp focus, but again, when using outdoors the focus plane is very narrow. Basically you can focus the unit to see, but anything 3-5 feet forward or behind the exact object you're looking at will be very blurry. I could see hunters using this unit for getting to their tree stands before dawn, and maybe checking your house without alerting a potential burgular. Other than that, buy these for fun only.
Pros: Cost, Features
Cons: Glare resistence, Construction
