Andy's Review of Sightmark 10-40x56mm Triple Duty Tactical Rifle Scope

I know some reviews out there are put in by people paid by the company's to make their product look good but this is not one of those reviews. I am fairly new to the gun and scope world. I bought my first gun in the summer of 2014 and have since adde to my collection. Finally when I had the two rifles I really wanted, I had to do homework on rifle scopes. I knew absolutely nothing about rifle scopes (as do most gun owners still and those new to the shooting scene). Simply put, what I learned is this: if you're looking for a really good,long-range scope, anything over 20x zoom needs a parallax adjustment. In other words you need a scope that has a focus knob or "turret". Onto the scope. I've spent hours of free time shopping online, comparing prices, review, and magnification. I even looked at scopes in the stores. The most common magnification I found is up to 10x zoom. For those who want much higher magnification for truly long range shooting, buy the sightmark 10-40x56 rifle scope!!!!! It's lowest magnification is 10x zoom and the highest magnification is 40x zoom. I will tell you that between 32 and 40x zoom the image gets very slightly cloudy but you can still see your target clearly to make your shot. It has a focus that ranges from 10 yards to infinity and it works really well. The wind age and elevation turrets have 1/8 MOA. That's minute of angle (I believe 1 minute of angle is one inch). Also, the turrets lock so once you're zeroed it should stay zeroed. It also has a red and a green illuminated reticle. They say adjustable brightness but there really isn't a difference. So, price, and this is absolutely awesome: retails from sightmark for $380. I bought 2 of these from optics planet for less than $230...each! I bought 1, mounted it on a 556/223 ar. Loved it and bought another one for my saiga 7.62x39. Both work really well, oh and they come with the 30mm scope rings. I would recomend buying either new 30mm scope rings or a 30mm scope mount. The ones that come do fit the picatinny rail, but they only hand tighten, need to be screwed down solid so the recoil doesn't make your optic fly off
