ShooterWest's Review of Zeiss Conquest V6 5-30x50mm 30mm Tube Riflescope w/BDC Turret, Second Focal Plane

Until now it would have been very hard to convince me to switch from Leupold Optics on all of my hunting and competition rifles. However, that changed recently after using a ZEISS scope. After switching from Leupold or Bushnell high end scopes to the ZEISS V6, my field of view was noticeably brighter. I guess I wasn't surprised - the best camera lens I ever owned also had Carl Zeiss glass in it. The second 'plus' I noticed about the V6 was the sharpness of reticle when adjusted to my failing eyes at age 56. The fast focus eyepiece on the V6 has plenty of adjustment left even after adjusting it for sharpness of the reticle for my uncorrected vision.

I was not easy on my V6. I set the zero stop for 100 yards and had calculated elevation settings for 200, 300, 400, 500, and 600 yards. While on the shoot I'd range a prairie dog, click to the appropriate yardage, allow for wind drift, and fire the shot. For the next shot I'd spin the elevation turret back to the zero stop, range the next prairie dog, and repeat. Yardages were spot on. Through the course of four days of shooting I tried to wear out the turret but it remained the same as "new" with positive clicks, and it never changed from the original point of aim.

The ZEISS ZBR reticle has wind drifts and I found the 1" MOA hash marks very beneficial for making wind drift holds. While I like the ZBR reticle it is a bit too busy. The ZMOA reticle is perfect. I've used fine crosshair with dot reticles in all my scopes up to this opint. Because of the ZEISS V6 I am now addicted to MOA hash marks!
