The .22 caliber BlitzKing has long been the favored bullet for small game hunting. Although they're commonly used in .22 rimfire rifles for target practice, they're also frequently used in .22 cal rifle handguns for a number of reasons. The tip of the .22 cal BlitzKing helps improve the ballistic coefficient, giving shooters a greater range of muzzle velocity. However, due to its lighter weight, it also makes for great handgun bullet. For .22 cal handguns, the 40 grain BlitzKing has been found to be a little easier to shoot with initial accuracy, though most shooters will need to do some re-calibration to achieve optimum accuracy. BlitzKing bullets are designed for shooting at muzzle velocities of up to 4,400 fps. Although they are popular for .22 cal rifles, they also work well in .22 cal rifle handguns with integral scope bases. For these reasons, Sierra recommends them for all calibers. For handguns, we recommend the .22 cal O.D. instead. Handgun shooters will often sacrifice some overall accuracy for the sake of muzzle velocity. However, the 40 gr BlitzKing #1440 will give shooters the most consistent performance they have ever experienced from Sierra.
