Product Info for Sky Watcher Evostar 72ED Reducer/Flattener

The new Sky-Watcher Evostar 72ED Reducer/Flattener offers a combination of a 72mm reducer and a flattener in one easy-to-use package. This reducer is designed for astrophotographers using the new Sky-Watcher Evostar 72ED or any other f/5.8 aperture imaging camera. The Reducer/Flattenner effectively doubles the field of view of the 72ED but with the aperture ratio lowered, a flattertener effect can be achieved. Good for astrophotography where a faster shutter speed provides a higher image resolution, but there are times when a smaller aperture and higher resolution produces a better image. This reducer is not a substitute for a photo adapter and should be used in conjunction with an appropriate photo adapter. The Reducer/Flattener is not intended for use with astronomical cameras.image

  • Compatible with both APS-C and full frame sensors, APS-C (crop sensors) and smaller recommended
  • 55mm back focus
  • Drops f/ratio from native f/5.8 (420mm) to f/4.93 (355mm)
  • Reduces exposure time by 38% compared to native f/5.8
  • 5.8 x 3.87-degree field of view when used with a full frame camera
  • 3.79 x 2.53-degree field of view when used with APS-C crop sensor
  • Includes thread-on adapter to mount reducer to Evostar 72ED focuser
