The Thin Blue/Red Line is a symbolic reference to the role of law enforcement as the barrier that prevents society from descending into violent chaos. To honor the service and sacrifice of police officers, Spyderco created the Thin Blue Line series, which showcases unique versions of some of their most popular lightweight knives, including the Delica 4, Endela, Endura 4, and Rescue 3. The tough fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle scales of these knives are injection molded in black with Spydercos signature Bi-Directional Texture pattern and accented by a bright blue lining. When assembled with a matching blue FRN backspacer, they create a compelling visual metaphor for the thin blue line. Unlike the standard expressions of these models, the VG-10 stainless steel blades of these knives combine the low-friction edge geometry of a full-flat grind with the extreme cutting power of Spyderco serrations. The blades are also laser engraved with the motto To Serve and Protect to honor the service and sacrifice of law enforcement professionals. Each model is completely ambidextrous thanks to a fully accessible Trademark Round Hole, sturdy back lock mechanism, and adjustable four-position pocket clip. In addition to their uniqueness, Thin Blue Line knives also benefit a worthy cause. A portion of all sales of these knives will be donated to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (tunnel2towers.org), which honors firefighter Stephen Sillers sacrifice of laying down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation Fallen First Responder, Smart Home and Gold Star Family Home programs which support the families of first responders, military and their families who have made the supreme sacrifice of life and limb.
