do you need to use Verizon as the cellular carrier? We have AT & T and do not want to change over to Verizon.

This unit is Verizon. I think the the Spypoint Link-Dark is the AT&T version

what does Verizon charge to use it

Spypoint uses the Verizon "network" and all of your connections are through the Spypoint App. Verizon does Not charge anything. Spypoint will let you send up to 100 pics/month for Free. After that you can buy monthly packages.
