The Techne PFP7 Flame Photometer uses the Vapor Lock Photon Emission Reaction to prevent breakthrough of sample and to protect the flame on the photon. The reaction generates a sharp peak at the emission intensities of a chosen element in the plasma. This peak is proportional to the laser excitation energy and therefore prevents undesirable changes in the flame. The Techne PFP7 then scans the emission intensities to the sample in a predetermined time interval. This feature can be used for DoE confirmation testing on new raw materials and for process control duties. Since different elements emit light with different intensities, practically all of the photons will be strong for a short duration before a re-action occurs. This feature is independent of the laser intensity because the intensity of the light increases with decreasing intensity.
