Behind the tool: The success of our original XcEST-Alpha fixed blade was very positive in its performance for field operators. TOPS received a wide range of "thumbs-up" critiques. So much so, that we listened to our client's new requests. There was a strong demand for the same strength, durability, and functionality of the XcEST in a solid-built folder.
It took a year to refine, tweak, and field test the XcEST-Delta. With its rugged good looks, accompanying its multi-use field abilities, it is a virtual replica in size and strength to the XcEST-Alpha. The blade and frame are coated with our trusted black traction coating, and the handle slabs are made of hard wearing, good looking blue/black G10. The handles are complimented with a divot on both sides, should the user require it for use with a bow drill. The heavy-duty pocket clip is recessed in the handles to avoiding the possibility of sliding from side to side and is reversible (left or right side). For those of you who wish to use it with the accompanying black ballistic nylon sheath, it may be mounted horizontally or vertically on a belt and is MOLLE compatible. The pivot pin is 1/4" diameter case-hardened steel. The frame is aircraft aluminum 6061 T-6. The blade steel is 154cm, hardened to 58-60 RC. The pocket clip is hardened tool steel.
