The V Seven Hyper-Light Magnesium KeyMod rail was designed with weight savings as the prime objective. Machined with a blend of aluminum and magnesium, the material is much lighter and stronger than rails constructed entirely from aluminum. To reduce weight even further, the magnesium is magnesium blended. Magnesium alloy is much less brittle and susceptible to damage from corrosive elements such as copper, which would abrade or scratch compared to aluminum. Plasma adsorption processes, such as the ones used on bulletproof windows and crowns, provide excellent wear properties compared to anodizing. Plasma adsorption also has the added benefit of significantly improving the strength of the final product compared to air. This is why the V Seven Hyper-Light Magnesium KeyMod rail is much more appropriate for a shorter, lighter weight build.
