Standard conical-bottom microcentrifuge tubes have a long-lasting polyethylene (PE) cap with a standard-cap screw closure. Each tube is molded of a consistent number of both standard-cap and special-cap screws that resist punch-down force and temperature extremes. Polypropylene tubes can be centrifuged with the caps oriented to the inside of the tube. Before centrifugation, verify that the lid is in place and that the O-ring is sealing. If not, close the lid and proceed with the centrifugation. The polyethylene screw caps are fitted with an internal wax pattern for reliable adhesion to the tube; no disassembly of the cap is required. The caps are easily removed for cleaning.
