This pure cellulose sheeting is used for thin layer chromatography (STC) and is highly recommended for the pre-treatment of crude oil and ether chromatography before and after dehydration. After evaporation, the paper is washed with an acidic solution and dried to a pure whiteness without any notation for the compound under test. Because the paper is aerated, no evaporation of the compound under test is required. This affords excellent resolution particularly useful in the pre-evaporation steps of coal and petroleum refining by SPE operations.
