Whatman Grade No. 40 Quantitative Filter Paper, Ashless, 1440-055 offers greater filtration through higher percentages of larger particles. This filtration medium generally requires longer residence time in the column than the other grades. Whatman Grade No. 40 Ashless Quantitative Filter Paper is ideally suited for filtrations which require a high degree of clarity such as for the visual examination of urine. This paper also allows faster color recognition and recovery. Whatman No. 40 Ashless Quantitative Filter Paper is pure cellulose based and does not contain any lignin, which diminishes the paper's filtration efficiency. Whatman No. 40 Quantitative Ashless Filter Paper resists cockle mud and stains and releases gases on heating to a greater extent than conventional Whatman Grade No. 40 qualitative filter papers.
