These filters are crepe paper filters with a crepe-paper outer layer that fluoresces when exposed to light. The fine mesh provides an accurate opening and allows the release of gases and vapors in the upper atmosphere. The medium porosity of the filter allows a certain amount of transmission of the ambient medium. The filter paper essentially eliminates the abrasive effect of the paper itself on the environment. The filter paper is generally folded onto itself to save space. It is recommended that the crepe paper filter paper be changed every one to two months.
