I got this tripod with in the 788 spotting scope package.
It worked fine for 3 range trips and then I tightened the tilt
knob too much and stripped the inside threads. I also lost the
eyepiece plastic cover on the same outting. I emailed Alpen CS
and asked where I could buy a replacement cap and a new tilt knob.
To my surprise, the next morning Omar from Alpen called me at home
and told me that they would send me the new improved eyepiece cover
(that I can't lose) and a brand new 705 tripod...all free including shipping!
Three days later I got the tripod and cover from UPS! Now that's customer
service with a capitol CS! A very good scope for my shooting needs and a
great company to deal with. Bravo Alpen!

I bought the older version of this tripod in 2012. I used it at the range on a regular basis and it worked well. In early 2015, as I tried to adjust the vertical micro knob, it broke. I took it home and disassembled the vertical adjustment area. I saw that the threaded screw was steel, but the small piece that attached the knob to the screw was plastic and it had broken off.
I called Alpen Outdoors and explained my issue to the tech, hoping to get a new part. He said they didn't make that model anymore, so there were no parts available. Without hesitation, he offered to send me the new version of the product, which had steel parts and a more stable platform.
I had to send my broken one back, but the one I received was indeed a much better built tripod.
I couldn't be happier with both the product and the customer service from Alpen.
Pros:
- Micro Adjustmments
- Super customer service

Used for holding a Leupold 20 - 60 x 80 SX1 Ventana Angled Spotting Scope. Wobbles a bit if you touch the scope ever so slightly. So it is fine once you've zero'ed in and keep it stationary, and don't come in contact with the scope when looking through it. If you want to do more with a spotting scope, this might not be the best tripod for you. That said, given the price, I guess one shouldn't expect more.

Received this item with my Alpen 20-60x scope.
Easy to set up.
Within 1 month (3-4 uses) one of the micro-adjusters (plastic bushing that the adjustment screw threads through) had broken. I think one of me friends unfamiliar with how far you can adjust in each direction may have forced it and broke it, but he says 'no'. Either way this piece broke, and I had to replace it with a home-made aluminium piece.
Also, heavy scopes are wobbly on this tripod. Under full power, just lightly adjusting the focus knob on scope creates a visual tsunami, so you need to focus a little, check picture, focus again etc as it is soooo shaky at 60x power. The higher you make the scope for comfortable viewing, the more shaky it gets. I do recommend this tripod tho, as it mostly does what you want, and you can easiy see .22cal bullet holes on target at 200yds with vertical and horizontal adjustments across all your targets and distances. As I'm writing this, I'm wondering if some bungee cord or surgical tubing type stuff could be tied around the heavier scopes to the tripod to further stabilze them? I will try it out next time. I also used this tripod with the Alpen camera adapter to take photos / video through the optics.
Pros: Ease of use, micro-adjustability
Cons: Plastic bits wear out, lightweight, shaky with heavy scopes

A good product but it could certainly use a bit more mass. The material is a little thin and makes it feel not as strong as it could be. I love the micro-adjust feature though.
Pros: Micro-adjust
Cons: Not quite heavy/sturdy enough

The only table top (shooting bench) tripod I could find with micro adjustments, nice touch.
Can be a little wobbly with too heavy a scope.
Pros: micro adjustability
Cons: won't hold too much weight

This is a great micro-adjustable tripod that provides minor adjustments left, right, up and down. The tripod is easy to use, great size and very practical. I am using this with a Barska 18-90x88 Scope, which is a little heavy for the scope, which is the only negative comment, but overall, a great table top tripod.
Pros: Precise Adjusment, Size and Value
Cons: Not for a big scope
