Really great sunglasses

by Sonny, from United States, NH Written on October 14, 2014
I've been looking for a good pair of sunglasses and checked out Ray Ban and others but these are great glasses for the money. They are comparable to the other name brand glasses and I'm glad I found these. I liked them so much that I ordered another pair so I can have a pair in each of my cars....

Black AO Pilot Glass Frame Color Not Quite Right

by HarleyD1259, from United States, NC Written on October 13, 2014
I have been using AO Pilot Sunglasses for years in the military and know the high quality of these glasses and this company. I ordered two sets of Black Framed Pilot Sunglasses with the comfort cable temples. For some reason both frames appeared to be a brownish "gun metal" color rather than black so I returned them for a refund. The label on each of glass box indicated black frames but they did not look black to me. Could just be me but not what I wanted for the price since I was going to have prescription lens added by my local optometrist. I have always opted for the flat silver frames in the past and have never been disappointed with the color, fit, and quality of AO glasses. I thought I would give the black frames a try but will stay with silver for now.

The Comfort Cable Temples are awesome for flying with ANR headsets as not to break the ear seals and aerobatics so they stay in place under G force....
Pros:
  • Comfortable
  • Stylish
  • great quality product
  • Different Temple Choices
Cons:
  • Black frame off color to me
  • Black frames appeared Gun Metal color
Best Used for:
  • flying
  • Any activity with headphones
  • Any activity or life style

Back for a replacement. I hope I don't lose these.

by Annie, from United States, TN Written on October 12, 2014
I got 55mm, wire spatula, amber polarized lens, the lens made everything look nicer. The only con was every time I look down they would scoot down my nose and I would have to push them back up. I bought bayonet type for my boyfriend. Wire spatula and bayonet both fall down face. I hope whoever found my pair is enjoying them. I want to try the comfort cable and hope it stays up better and doesn't feel uncomfortable. Bayonet frame seems sturdier than wire spatula. My ray ban wayfarer stays on my face perfect but the lenses isn't near as nice as these AO's. I think the AO's fall off easier because the metal frame is heavier than a plastic frame. I don't like nose piece. You cannot wear AO's on your head when going in stores. They won't stay on. Optics planet is a great company to order from. They shipped my first pair faster that backorder stated!...
Pros:
  • Looks good
  • Polarized amber lens
Cons:
  • Falls down easy
  • Nosepeice

Glasses Help the Eyeballs

by Me, from United States, NY Written on September 8, 2014
They help keep the sun out of your eye unless you leave them in your office desk over the weekend. Looking forward to using them on my next car journey. Which means it would have been smart to purchase before me summer car journeys but oh well....

Wild Animal

by Warbird, from United States, MA Written on September 6, 2014
I've had these type of glasses since they were first issued to me in flight school over 25 years ago. The issue sunglasses were 52mm Matte Chrome Bayonets with Polarized Gray lenses. Over the years I've grown an affinity for Brown Polarized. OpticsPlanet allowed me to "build" the glasses I REALLY wanted and now I have them: 52mm Matte Chrome Bayonets with Polarized Brown glass! They're kind of a wild animal, but they're perfect. Warbird out....

First Pair of Sunglasses

by Al, from United States, CA Written on September 5, 2014
I was tired of dealing with the bright, eye squinting, California sun for what seemed every morning, so I decided to purchase some aviators to finally be able to drive in peace on my way to work. I ordered the following model:

Cosemetan Brown Lenses
55 mm
Polarized
Wire Spatula
Gold Frame

The sunglasses are great, they block out the sun, allow me to drive in peace, and allow me to still distinguish color. Glare is virtually non existent while wearing them, and they are fairly comfortable on my head. The only thing I wish I had known was regarding the lens diameter. I have a fairly big head, and while the sunglasses fit, I feel I should have purchased the 57 mm, yet they would have taken 10 weeks for a reorder/replacement. For people who have a fairly large head, I would suggest going to the 57 mm. Overall, I am satisfied with the purchase, and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a great pair of sunglasses and want a reasonably priced pair....
Pros:
  • polarized
  • Sturdy
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Driving and beach

practical & good lookin' too

by hewhoisdom, from United States, NY Written on August 30, 2014
I like these glasses so much that I'm ordering another pair after losing the first at the beach. They look great and do the job. I like the comfort cable, but it was a little uncomfortable. Still, if you're bald like me the comfort cable keeps the glasses from falling off your face when you bend....

Best pair of sunglasses I have ever owned.

by Geoffrey, from United States, TX Written on August 26, 2014
You can spend 3 times this amount on a pair of copycat Ray Bans and still not get the quality that you get with AO. Watch old WWII videos and you will notice every aviator is wearing a pair. Best pair of sunglasses I have ever owned....

Over a year and still going strong

by Matt, from United States, MN Written on August 20, 2014
I love these. I have worn them in around cities, hiking in mountains, fishing in the country, traveling, through bitter cold and blistering heat - pretty much all the time. My sunglasses have been dropped at least a dozen times by my careless hands onto asphalt, rocks, and more, and show barely a scratch. I even popped out a lens by accident a couple months ago, which easily popped back in. I love the shape of the "pilot," and frequently get compliments here and while traveling abroad. It is so refreshing to find something that is more attractive than Ray Ban (to me at least), more durable than Ray Ban, not as ubiquitous as Ray Ban, and all at the same time much cheaper than Ray Ban. Keep it up! I look forward to being a loyal AO customer for years to come....
Pros:
  • value
  • durable
  • High quality
  • Appearance
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Mountain Trekking
  • urban life
  • fishing
  • driving
  • eye protection

Cool goggles!

by GJ, from Netherlands, ZUID-HOLLAND Written on August 14, 2014
Very light weighted and very cool pair of sunglasses! In the Netherlands the AO Original Pilot sunglasses are not very well known so this is really something special over here. I ordered the Matte Chrome, CC Gray Poly Lens, 52mm, Bayonet, Polarized model but unfortunately they are a little bit too small for me. I’ll order the 55 mm model, same specifications....
