Very good scope
Very good scope. I did try the 15X45 as a kit with the tripod and found the tripod to be very shaky in a 5-10 mph wind. Upgraded the 20-60 scope and the Leupold Compact Tripod #56446 and now I have a rock solid combination. I would definitely recommend this combo.
Pros: Clear, solid and a value for ...

Bought based on price to be used with a .223 and .308 at 100-300 yards. Above 40x clarity falls off rapidly, difficult to see .223 holes at 300 yards. 40x is the best setting, can see .223 at 100-200 and .308 to 300
Pros: Price, Leupold warranty, Optics Planet service
Cons: Becomes fuzzy above 40x
Great scope, junk tripod
This is a nice scope for the price but the tripod should go back to China - it is worthless. Once I pulled out my camera tripod everything was good. Nice case and bag for the scope. They want me to write more but I have nothing else that describes this product. Thank you.

No direction
Great case, nice looking. No directions on tripod or scope. Still waiting for a response from manufacturer (3weeks) on sending instructions. lenses provide a hazy view. I am not at all pleased and would not encourage others to purchase this item. The second optic from Leupold I have purchased recently that does not perform to expectations. Not at all like previous Leupold purchases.

Not that good at high Magnification or Low Light
Adequate light at minimal zoom in daylight. Scope dims at higher magnification and unusable at grey light unless at minimal zoom. Must have a tripod at higher magnification. Tripod that comes with kit flimsy. Case nice for storage or transport. Would not buy again. Think the angled version would be easier for viewing.
Pros:
- Price
Cons:
- not good at lowlight
- Dims at Magnification
Best Used for:
- Bright days

SX-1 Ventana
This spotting scope was the best of the scopes in the $400 - $700 range, I have used the Vortex, Redfield, Barska, and Nikon. This Ventana 20x60 x80 was as clear as a higher priced brands. I was able to see holes in shoot n see targets at 400 yards.

Comments on Leupold Spotting Scope
This scope works fine at the rifle range, for which I purchased this scope. I have not used it for other purposes yet so cannot comment on that, but intend to try it on hunting. At the range the 100 yard targets showed up well, like two hits in same hole and other hard to see items.

Very good product
Great quality optics, excellent magnification range with a very quality lens.
The field of view allow to see bullet holes at 300yards easily. With my previous Yukon 15-45x50 scoppe I can't see anything at 100 yards.

Good scope for spotting under 250 yds
I bought this scope for spotting at the rifle range where I shoot .308 at 500yds and my old scope shot craps. I found it clear at all magnifications out to 100 yds but it started to get a bit fuzzy at full power at 200 m and it could not resolve holes in white paper at 300m. It did give a fair image on a shoot-n-see target but not real clear. When I went out to the 300m target there were multiple holes in white paper just off the 6" target. Failure to resolve these meant just a waste of ammo without any real ballistic information. I am returning it and Optics Planet was very helpful. I will definitely continue to do business with them.

Spotting scope
Leupold optics are great. The hard case is a nice addition for protection and carry. However the tripod is made of plastic fittings made in China. The scope attached to this tripod is hard to steady. I would recommend the scope but they could have done a better job with the tripod.

So much improvement!
I bought this to replace a Russian spotting scope I had won in a raffle. I can't believe how much I was missing! The image is exponentially better with the Leupold scope. I'm using this to be a spotter for my wife in long range competitions and this should give me a break and improve a bit of domestic tranquility in my (admittedly weird) household.
The focus ring turns easily, the magnification ring less so. It's not terrible, like my Russian glass. The built-in sunshade slides in & out easily, but I haven't needed it yet. The case seems quite sturdy and is a welcome addition. Others have complained about the tripod and while it isn't great, it does the job. There is a soft case sized for the spotting scope inside the case that comes with its own neck strap. It's a tight fit and it tends to pull the lens cap off when removing the scope from the soft case. But these are really nitpicky sorts of items.
