The primary reason for the development of the 30 Super Carry cartridge was to allow 12 rounds of ammunition to be carried in a handgun of the same make and model that will only hold 10 rounds of 9mm Luger.

What is the 30 Super Carry round?

The 30 Super Carry is a new handgun cartridge designed to bridge the gap between the concealability of a 380 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) and a 9mm Luger for personal defense. This results in a higher magazine capacity than a 9mm but better terminal performance than a 380 ACP. Federal's new pistol cartridge ballistics when tested with a 100-grain FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) bullet produces a muzzle velocity of 1,250 fps (feet per second) and muzzle energy of 347 ft-lb (foot-pounds). Tests with HST hollow-point bullets of the same grain weight result in the same fps and foot-pounds of energy, with 15.5 inches of penetration.

What gun shoots 30 Super Carry?

The introductory pistol models that are being offered in this new caliber are Nighthawk Custom President, Nighthawk GRP, Smith & Wesson M&P Shield Plus, and Smith & Wesson M&P Shield EZ. It remains to be seen what other gun companies may be offering for this new round.

Can you shoot .30 Super Carry in a 9mm?

No, you should not shoot .30 Super Carry through a firearm chambered for 9mm Luger. They are different calibers, different chambers, and different cartridges.
