NOT WATER RESISTANT

by E.K., from NY, United States Written on November 20, 2017
I recently used the Rush 24 on a hunting trip in New York. It rained hard for two hours and the temperature was 32 degrees. When the rain stopped I went into my pack for spare dry gloves. Everything in the bag was wet. My gloves, my hat, my food, my phone, everything was soaked. My box of ammo was so wet that it started to fall apart when I picked it up. Luckily my Vortex binoculars and Sig Kilo rangefinder are waterproof. Yes, the bag was zipped closed. This bag is not even water resistant. The water just soaks through in only a few hours. The description states that 511 manufactures items for military and police. You would think that some level of water protection would be standard. Not here. 511 needs to state this in the product description.
Pros:
  • Heavy Duty
Cons:
  • Use in dry weather only
Would recommend: No

Good pack... So far

by Nathan Schmidt, from TX, United States Written on March 17, 2016
this pack has excellent compartmentalization. The sunglasses pocket is a little too small though. Other than this minor gripe, the only other complaint is that the pack is a little heavier, but that's to be expected of a tactical pack made out of heavier fabric and w/ generous padding and a firm support in the back. This pack was the perfect size for a 5 day trip to Costa Rica where I packed a few toiletries, 3 pairs of hybrid board/walk shorts, a pair of flip flops, 5 UA heat gear short sleeve shirts and my Canon 6D full frame camera w/ the cheap line Canon 50mm 1.8 aperture. I also fit miscellaneous chargers and SD cards. Was able to use the tier system to attach a daypack. A little too big maybe to be used as a daypack in itself; I would recommend. The multicam looks really nice
Pros:
  • roomy
  • compartments
  • Seems well made
  • comfortable straps
  • Pattern is attractive
Cons:
  • heavier
  • Expands depth wise; not lengthwise
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • camping
  • Trekking
  • Short travel

Rush review

I go to the field often but only for a day or so. I don't need a bulky pack, this pack is just the right size for those short days. Plenty of room, plus having lots of pockets inside to stash my extras.
Pros:
  • Pockets
  • MOLLEs
  • Durable.
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Short trips

Josh Bailey

I'm impressed with the quality of this pack. Lots of storage and comfortable. I wish it had a waist strap but can live with out it. Currently using it as a range/bail out bag. Plenty of options for organizing gear.

Get Ready Cause Its About To Get Heavy

by DOA, from FL, United States Written on January 27, 2015
Another very good product from 5.11! Trying very hard to not be a sell out but this company make good gear. I use this backpack for hunting but it makes a great operator pack. Plenty of places to add on more packs or gear. Love the double sided camel pack holes. Very durable and tough with quiet zippers and water resistant fabric. Shoulder straps are comfortable and the amount of internal pockets is sufficient. The pack will expand to carry more weight than your back and legs will want to. I think it will last many hunting seasons or tours.
Pros:
  • toughness
  • Pockets for any use.
  • Quiet
  • water resistant
  • attachment points
  • shoulder straps
Cons:
  • Not waterproof
Best Used for:
  • hunting/tactical/operators
