I have been purchasing and using high quality outdoor equipment for at least 45 years. However, only recently have I enjoyed What I consider very good, as well as, exceptionally affordable camping gear from ALPS Mountaineering. This review reflects the Outback Mat which I have used many times in the short time I have had it. The only fault or difference from the self inflating mats I have always used is this mat takes up a larger space when stowed away. More to the point it puts up quite a good fight as soon as you even reach for its supplied "stuff" sack. This is quickly forgotten as soon as you lay down on the mat. Comfort, materials, fit and finish are also excellent.

In a relatively short period of time I have acquired several items from ALPS product line and have not been in the least disappointed. I wish I could say the same for what used to be known as Customer Service from several of on-line merchants who have all but abandoned even a pretense of facilitating sales. However, the product gets 5 stars as they weren't directly involved with my purchase from this company.
