Most Helpful Positive Review Athlon ares 15-45x65
Well I was finally able to put the Ares to a field test and a comparison against vortex diamondback and viper HD. Though lower magnification and objective size the Ares IMO blew the diamondback out of the water and was better than the viper too at comparable zooms. Low light max zoom was the one lowlight of the Ares at near dark and 45 power you can notice it does get darker right around 35x which I presume is from the smaller objective. From 15 to 35x at lowlight I was able to get crisp photos and good color. Personally I see this scope as a cheaper version of the old vortex razor. Not being ...

Solid 4.5 stars ,

by Manraj Singh, Verified Owner from VIC, Australia Written on May 19, 2019
Bought this spotter for hunting purpose mainly , The only reason I am giving 4.5 stars not 4 stars is because of price and what it delivers on that price, Optically it not perfect but delivers decent results in hunting purpose compared to bird watching. it does have chromatic aberration, i.e purple and green tinge in bright sun light, and yea most of high end also have it to some amount. it is noticeable if you are a picky user like me, but in field work its hardly noticeable. secondly i have noticed that it needs a fine focus ring when you are at 45X magnification, build quality is very good, accidentally also dropped it from 4 ft while mounting on tripod and luckily i had front lens cover on and performing same as new,

Things need to be improved and as customer happy to pay 100 dollars more if they a fine focus ring is also added along with denser HD glass to remove Chromatic aberration, more punchier contrast in image . again bottom line money spend on what you get is a good deal.
Pros:
  • build quality for money
Cons:
  • Finer Focus Ring needed
Best Used for:
  • Hunting, and general fun

Fantastic Spotting Scope, Great Price

by Bill, from ID, United States Written on August 16, 2017
I have a Athlon rifle scope & love it! I purchased this spotting scope because I trust the Athlon brand & the price is great! I am very satisfied with the scope, it is clear through all powers & the focus is very easy to use. I long range shoot & hunt & have a phone scope & found a adapter that fits this scope eye piece. It is great!! Price is great too!!

Athlon Ares 15-45x60 spotting scope

by strykerman, from PA, United States Written on November 26, 2016
Excellent optics, easy to focus at all distances. This spotter has a great eyepiece and very good ergonomics.I shoot 300 yard targets with cardboard backers and can easily spot .308 holes at that distance. A spotter well worth the money with edge to edge clarity. color and contrast are excellent great packable size and weight. Great for viewing wildlife, the moon and of course spotting on the range. I complimented this spotter with a ray-vin tactical spotter stand and this combo is an incredible package. Do your self a favor and go for it. Of course optics planet has always been my go to for anything like this and other sport related items. Thank you optics planet.

great scope

by Bill, from PA, United States Written on May 16, 2016
I have a Nikon 20 to 60x80mm. It is not to great or clear above 30 something power. So I did a bit of research and got this scope. I love it, it is very clear but is a little touchy at top power, but is like top end scope compared to my Nikon. Well made also (Nikon body is cheap plastic) not that big in size. I paid about the same for this of the Nikon and could not be happier. Great scope and well worth the $500 I paid for it.
