Donofmo's Review of Athlon Optics Argos BTR Gen II 10-40X56mm BLR Rifle Scope

I read some reviews and recently had the chance to try it out. I was doing a little ammo wasting as time didn't give the luxury to settle everything as far as shooting table target placement were the sun was involved and a good rest set up for a 22 long rifle caliber rifle. Anyway... It does work but like any lower prices optic with high magnification.. I found the scope useable but as a great scope for testing different ammo from a match rifle. In other words... This is not what I would consider a high end competition bench rifle scope. Range day with the family and friends sure. It's high magnification requires knowing how to adjust the scope for an exact range and magnification. At high magnification it's very time consuming to get it all at the best focus you can get. The eye box is of course quite small so it may really frustrate a new shooter if the cheek riser isn't set for their eye alignment. It seems to hold true on alignment so the shots hit where you aim. Then again I'm only using it on a 22 lr. No it's not a Zeiss Conquest but a decent scope for the price. I didn't send it back.
Pros:
  • Great magnification.
Cons:
  • A bit tricky to get the optimum clearing at high magnification
Best Used for:
  • Range time with a 22lr and bench shooting.
