I do like the small size of the dot. I have the green dot and it is as described. The one thing I would have liked to see is that the optic was rechargeable. I have tried other shake awake red dots but for the price its a good optic. I have used and own other Swampfox products and am not disappointed. I would get another if needed and would recommend taking a look if this is what you're looking for!
I installed the trigger kit as described in the instructions. It wasnt hard for a first timer working on a S&W trigger job. The trigger made a new service piece out of this! I wouldnt think twice about using this trigger to replace the factory parts.
I have used the scope to take pictures of the moon as well as using it for deer hunting. I was very impressed to be able to pick out deer and know which one I was going after at 200+ yards and check the antlers. I would say this is a great spotting scope for entry level spotters but even a great option for rough terrain since it wont be an expensive loss if you have a mishap. That said...id buy another without question. I am somewhat limited by hills so I dont often use it more than 300 yards but it is perfect for our hunting terrain.
I read some reviews and recently had the chance to try it out. I was doing a little ammo wasting as time didn't give the luxury to settle everything as far as shooting table target placement were the sun was involved and a good rest set up for a 22 long rifle caliber rifle. Anyway... It does work but like any lower prices optic with high magnification.. I found the scope useable but as a great scope for testing different ammo from a match rifle. In other words... This is not what I would consider a high end competition bench rifle scope. Range day with the family and friends sure. It's high magnification requires knowing how to adjust the scope for an exact range and magnification. At high magnification it's very time consuming to get it all at the best focus you can get. The eye box is of course quite small so it may really frustrate a new shooter if the cheek riser isn't set for their eye alignment. It seems to hold true on alignment so the shots hit where you aim. Then again I'm only using it on a 22 lr. No it's not a Zeiss Conquest but a decent scope for the price. I didn't send it back.
I wanted the new sunshade for my Athlon scope. In the good old days the sunshades came with more expensive scopes. The color of the coating is spot on with the color of the scope so that was a relief. If your using a a corrective 20 moa scope mount rail you'll need some super high mount for clearance of the sun shade. It makes for a big unit on top of your rifle. I had no problems with it for my short range 22 Anschutz.
These are by far the most reordered product I own. I can reach for a handle and the grip and feel are incredible. Weather isn't a factor be it , hot, cold, wet or dry, you know it's going to stay in place and under control.
I previously owned a couple sets of Hogue grips and decided to give this set a try as well. The difference is astounding. If it's cold and you have on gloves this furniture provides a soft rubber that will hold the grip with gloves on. Even in the hot weather, your hands get hot and sweaty you can be assured it won't hamper your control. I'd order more of I needed a set. With times as they are I wouldn't wait too long!
I had an older Bushnell range finder. The older unit I had was made for 600 +/- yards of distance. After using it for several years the prime 1700 came along and although I didn't NEED it yet as the other is still in use today. I decided it might be a good idea that if my current unit fails it would be good to have another handy. I live in the country and work in dirt with heavy equipment so an accurate unit for measuring distance is handy compared to carrying a roller measure for sure. I have had the prime 1700 long enough to say I have compared the readings with known distances and ease of use. The prime 1700 measures slope which is also needed in dirt work as well as shooting and the Prime 1700 has replaced the unit I bought to back up. The advertising matches the product. I have measured distances at the max range and find it very accurate. I wouldn't hesitate buying another if I need to.
I got the Bushnell Prime 1700 after using a Bushnell range finder for several years. I trusted the original range finder but I wanted the extended range of the 1700. I am in the dirt work business and the new Prime 1700 has come in very handy when surveying grades and distance. This is an awesome tool for outdoor work that you need accurate measurements.
