After the 3rd try, I finally received a scope that had a functional battery compartment. Two of the four AA batteries would not depress and thus the battery cap would not fit properly. So far, the scope is pretty awesome, i.e. clarity, definition, etc. Looking forward to sight it in and kill some hogs.

After weeks of research, I pulled the trigger and made the right decision. Be sure to read the product manual before getting in the field to sight in your new scope. Sighting it in was harder than expected because of my lack of thermal experience, but once completed, it was game on the first night. It felt like a video game and allowed me to start eliminating predators and hogs the first night. Big, but worthwhile investment.

I was having some trouble getting my THHD to turn on, even though it did a few weeks ago, but customer service has been so great to work with and helping repair my scope. After all, it is essentially a computer and bound to have a glitch every now and then. Looking forward to having it back, thanks customer service!

Recently started having start up issues (power to black screen) and ATN has been of no assistance. Looks like I now have a $2K paperweight.
When it worked it was nice and hopefully I can figure it out.

I'd been on waiting lists for a FLIR PTS233 for a long time and finally decided to increase my budget a little bit and go for the ATN Thor-HD 384-288. 4.5-18x. And of course, one of the stores shipped the FLIR days after I received my ATN. So I got to compare them side by side and the ATN was clearly the choice for me based on the clarity, 50 mm lens and ability to focus. The zoon is far superior as well. I still have much to learn to take advantage of all the features on the ATN but so far it's been easy to get up and running. I'm looking forward to killing my first hog with it this week!
Pros:
- Great clarity and distance
Cons:
- A little learning curve on the controls

I have given the scope only 4 stars for now as I have yet to do more than simply play with it. It is a computer with eye glasses. Not a simple piece of hardware and one that you need to take your time to get acquainted with. But the features this scope offers are unbelievable. Optic Plant delivered as promised and product was well protected for shipping. The Optic Plant price was also very competitive as I had been shopping for this item for a while. If all goes well I will be back and up my rating to five stars!

I received my scope a couple of days ago and I was amazed at how well it does. The fog did nothing to it, it saw right through it with total ease. I recommend this scope to everyone. My fiance and I hurry to see who will get to use it that night. Each time we use it we find something else we didn't find before and have to use it longer just to try all the features out. ATN this is one awesome thermal.

I like this product. I have been wanting to get a thermal scope for some time now but the price was prohibitive. I found this on optics planet for an amazing price, during a black Friday sale. I spent much less on it buying from optics planet than I would have spent elsewhere. I like the features that it has. I like the fact that I can now shoot in the dark, or day. I can spot cattle from up to 2 miles away, temperature is below freezing as I write this. Under 100 yards I can easily spot birds, rats, mice, fox, racoon, etc. It would be a good idea to check your local regs about spot lighting and night hunting before purchasing. There are a few things I don't like about it. The screen is a bit grainy, like looking through a window screen. I attribute that to the 384 resolution. The same scope in 640 resolution is anther $1k. For that price I can live with the 384 resolution. Even with the grainy sight picture this scope is very useable. The one shot zero works all right. I wouldn't say it is one shot but the theory is good. It took me some time to sight it in so now that I have lots of practice it might be a five shot zero next time. The buttons are easy enough for me to use in the dark. I would suggest ATN make an upgrade to the buttons. If I was manufacturing these scopes I would smooth off the button area and add raised dimples to the power and the enter button.I think the external battery is essential
Overall I have enjoyed the thor HD.
Pros:
- loaded with features
- thermal capabilities, day or night,
- Bluetooth, wifi, Recoil activated video,
Cons:
- Heavy
- Eye piece cover can interfere with focus.
Best Used for:
- Night hunting.
- Target aqusition
- Locating cold spots in your home

I purchased this ATN scope 2 years ago and have used it for hog hunting in TX and some vermin eradication; I can attest to the fact that it "sees through fog"!
After my first trip to TX, I knew that I needed to upgrade from a night scope to a thermal. I finally bit the bullet and put out the cash, and I'm very happy I did!
The video is great and lets you see everything; good for after action review, eh?
Since I purchased mine, the price has dropped, so if you have a notion to get one, now would be a good time!
Pros:
- POI unaffected by the zoom.
Best Used for:
- night hunting predators and hogs
- Useful in foul weather too
