Most Helpful Positive Review This rifle scope met all my expectations
I am 55 years of age and have been shooting sense I was 9 years old. I bought the 6-24 x 42 mm Barska Varmint Rifle Scope for shooting 4 inch steel targets with a 22 rifle at 150 yards. The Mil-Dot reticle and 6-24 zoom is perfect and meets all my expectations. For the price it is unbeatable. Pro...

Most Helpful Negative Review Was not Impressed
I purchased this scope for my Husands 220 Swift which he ground hog hunt with so he makes over 200 yd shots. The scope clear upto about 12 power but beyond that it get very fuzzy, When we called Barska they said there would be a extra 25 dollar charge for them to look at the scope, in which they Do ...

Inexpensive, well built, has the basic functionality, good price

by Dani Miami, from FL, United States Written on January 16, 2023
Ordered this before Christmas and it arrived within one week. It is a solid, well built design, with the basic features which I was looking for and came at a very good price. Movement on all pieces is smooth and reliable. Comes with removable covers as opposed to flip covers. Everything works well, especially at about 6-15 magnification...from about 15-24 the visible area is quite small, but focused. Overall, a nice long distance scope for a good price.
Pros:
  • Price
  • Quality
  • Build
  • basic features
Cons:
  • no advanced features
  • covers are a bit flimsy
  • high magnification with small viewing area
Best Used for:
  • first time scope

Flew apart

by Imploded, from KY, United States Written on August 26, 2019
I shot with mine 5 times with a Remington .243 the inside of the scope fell apart worst scope I've ever used. The name tag was upside down that should've been a sign of things to come. The nice thing is I get to pay for return shipping and the warranty fee as if I hadn't wasted enough hard earned money.
Pros:
  • Very clear focus
Cons:
  • Junk
Best Used for:
  • Paper wait

High quality at a low price

by SG, from CT, United States Written on November 22, 2018
Very surprised at just how sharp the optics are and how well made this scope is at this low price point. Mounted on a heavy barrel 10/22 , it is giving excellent service. Compares well to scopes I have that cost several times more.
Pros:
  • Optical quality
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Small calibers

ok for the money

by joe, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on July 24, 2018
Not bad for the money, if you can afford more go for it but for under $100 it will do the job. I bought 2, 1 for an a17 savage an the other for a Ruger 10/22 both do the job but if I had more money at the time I would have bought a different one.

Barska Varmint 6-24x42 AO

by RONNIE, Verified Owner from MS, United States Written on August 23, 2015
Was a little worried after reading the reviews here and other places, they were about 50/50 on the scope. After mounting and sighting it in it held point of impact. Put another 20 rds. down range. All adjustments were smooth. was shooting out to 300 yds and the objectives worked and the sight picture was clear. Zeroed in at 100 yds. and first Mil-Dot down was on at 227 yds. Do not regret buying this scope. All of this was with a bolt action .223, 55gr.factory ammo.
Pros:
  • Clear, bright optics
Cons:
  • none... yet
Best Used for:
  • Target/Varmint

terrific, alot of bang for the buck

by jonesy, from TN, United States Written on August 18, 2015
I have this in a 223. It holds its zero, clear as a bell, and I could not ask for any thing else. I wish everyone was as happy as I am with mine. It is the cheapest scope I own and is as impressive as some $600. ones on large mags.

Good enough for a 17 HMR

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on January 10, 2012
The was a decent scope for the money. Some people might laugh, but I put mine on a 17HMR. Purchased the scope on sale at $76 bucks and figured why not give it a try. I would possibly buy another Barska scope in the future, but would not order it online. I would like to actual look thru one and make sure that the adjustments for windage and elevation work in the direction they are marked instead of backwards like on the scope I received. Even if they are working backwards scope was still easy to get zeroed.
Pros: Price, Magnification, and adjustable objective.
Cons: Eleavtion and windage adjust backwards to directions turrets are marked.
