Most Helpful Positive Review Bushnell Trophy 1x28 Rifle Scope
Easy to set up, adjust, and holds its zero after repeated firing. I use this scope on an AK-47 (Arsenal SLR-101S) and it makes target acquisition much faster. The ability to switch between green and red dots depending on available light is a bonus. Pros: Easy to set up and adjust for zero; Green/R...

Most Helpful Negative Review Didn't like it
I was initially impressed with this sight until I took it to the range. The point of impact changes with each reticle, so being able to change the reticle is of no use. I couldn't even keep all the shots on paper at 50 yards from a sandbagged rest. The rifle shot fine when I double checked my iro...

Not shock proof

by Alligaterman, from SC, United States Written on April 4, 2019
Bought this optic for it is for pistols and shotguns. I place it on my Ruger Redhawk 44 magnum, set the dot with my 44 laser bullet, took it to the range to set the range. second shot the dot was knocked off, the 5th shot it shattered the front glass, was very suprised. Now need to go thru the hassle of replacing it
Pros:
  • Know what it can hanndle
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Smaller caliber handguns

numerals unreadable

by bill888, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on September 5, 2016
If your eyes are other than 20/20 or you are not in bright sunlight the red and green numerals on the controls are virtually unreadable.I did not need the 200 characters to describe this item,I should have just sent it back.

Poor engineering on a good idea

by TMS31, from MI, United States Written on September 3, 2016
I would rate this scope with zero stars, if I could. It is cheap, but at any price, not worth the time, money and wasted ammunition you will burn in finding out how poorly it is engineered and how badly it performs.

What is wrong with it?
- Changing between the 8 reticles changes the point of impact of your shooting by a remarkable amount. Possible as much as a foot at 100 yards. You don't even have to shoot the gun on which it is mounted to see this. Just put the rifle in a good gun rest, aim at something with the red dot, then switch to another reticle. You'll be looking at something new in your sight picture. But, if you insist, you can shoot again to confirm how serious the defect really is.
- There are no true positive stops to lock the reticles. To see that, shoot a few rounds, move the reticle to another one, then return to the one you originally used. Shoot again to see where the bullets go. You will be amazed. And you won't like it.
- The reticle (the dot, say) cannot hold your sighting even if you do not touch it. That means your groups will be poor as the dot drifts around (or else the parallax is terrible - I am not sure which).

You can find good red dot scopes that can cut the variance of groups made by this product by a factor of 4-5. Don't waste time and money on this one.

  • None
Cons:
  • Poor engineering

Just what I needed

by Dennis, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on June 28, 2016
Perfect for my Ruger 10/22 Charger Take-down. Simple design and the multiple reticle/color options make this a great value scope. Comes with everything you need to mount it. Just be advised that the mounting screws are not hardened and will strip if you tighten them too much.

Bushnell dot

by George, Verified Owner from MD, United States Written on July 20, 2015
Order priority for Camp Perry National Matches. Arrived as promised, giving me time to mount and sight in before the trip.
Controls were easy to set with positive click and detent to hold the settings.Since we were in sunlight, I used the red only.
I'll try the green dot this week.
Worked great! .I'd recommend for others to buy.
Would like to have one for a back-up.

Good looking but doesn't hold zero.

by ixlr8, from NH, United States Written on July 4, 2015
The problem with this is the multi-reticle. If you change the reticle it looses zero. If you change back to the one you zeroed it on it has lost zero. If you turn the knob that changes the reticle just a little bit you can tell that it doesn't have a positive lock. You can reposition the reticle anywhere you want it so the zero is all over the place.
Pros:
  • Ruggedness
Cons:
  • Won't hold zero
Best Used for:
  • Display, doesn't function but looks good

by drdudes, from CA, United States Written on August 29, 2014
i don't know who to blame...bought it refurbished thinking it goes thru quality control...opened it a few weeks after receiving it and discovered that half of the field of view is covered by an orange hue which is irritating..poor QC...what a waste

Lots of features for a little money.

by Kevin K, from NJ, United States Written on August 29, 2014
This is a high value sight. It is very rugged, love the different color, size and shapes of the dots. The only downside is that it eats batteries every 8 hours of use. So if your the type that forgets to turn off the optics or use the sight very often, then you may want to look for another sight with a longer battery use life. As the cost of batteries may justify a higher dollar optic.
Pros:
  • Price
  • features
Cons:
  • Battery Life
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • Plicking

High Value Optic

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from RI, United States Written on February 26, 2013
Runs well on my S&W MP15-22. Haven't tried it on a higher caliber rifle yet, so I can't attest to its overall durability, but it seems hard to beat for the price. Normally about $100, but leave it to OpticsPlanet to get us a deal on dealer demos for $70! Outstanding!
Pros: Multiple reticles and colors = OPTIONS
Cons: Not U.S. made, but at least it's not made in China either
